The Freedom Train (from a transporter and ovenighter)

    Hi Stacey

Just wanted to let you know that I am proud to be a part of Rhonda's rescue efforts.   I will transport the animals in the Delaware/NJ area, sometimes to their final rescue.  Other times I have the pleasure of keeping them overnight.  When I hear the stories of where they came from, I am amazed and stunned.   Yet when I have these furkids overnight, they are so well behaved and act as if they had been in a house all their lives.  I have learned, however, that such is not the case; many of them have been running loose or chained outside for much of their lives.  When I overnight, most of the adults get to spend time in the same room where I sleep, and they are very well behaved.  All of them get along quite well.

It's also great to be a part of this community.  Individuals take pictures, create slide shows put to music of the transport legs and really tell the story of these animals.  The fact that these individuals not only spend time transporting but also taking the photos, then posting them and creating "Smile Boxes" and other ways for us to view the furkids is heartwarming.  The best part is hearing from the receiving rescue when the furkids have been adopted.  I'm so pleased to be able to make a difference in this manner and to be a part of such a great community.

Being in the northeast, I just hope that the efforts to educate folks in other areas about the importance of spay/neuter and the longer term efforts to establish a no or low kill shelter will materialize as they have in some parts of the northeast.

You should be very proud of the work you do!! Education is so important for people. I think lack of education is the main cause of the shelters being over crowded. Also people need to realize that when they adopt or take in a pet it is a family member and need to take responsibility for that pet for life. I strongly believe a pet is for life and if something should happen to you should have a safe home for your pet to go to. Those are my very strong beliefs . We need lots of outreach in all communities throughout the country. A no kill policy is a great dream of mine and I feel true possiblity! Keep up the amazing work!! Post some pictures of the furkids here on the forums. I would love it!! :) Thanks for all you do!! Stacey
    All The Best!!
